#2 Quirky Chats: Series Introduction and Some Goals for This Year

Quirky Chats; Connecting With Each Other Personally

Well, this is awkward.

Awkward because I don't know how to "chat" on blog posts. You know, where the blogger writes a post, presenting a story to nicely and effortlessly.

I admire all those writers and bloggers who can do that.

Okay, let me just try to chit-chat, and I request you to be patient because I'm not really good at it.

So, I thought of starting a series, and decided to name it Quirky Chats, mainly because I will be chatting, discussing about things related to me.

I don't do that; talk about me. Ever. That's because I'm really not comfortable discussing about.....me; my feelings, my life, my desires. But this year is about change for me, so I am going to push myself out of my comfort zone.

So, yeah, in a way you can expect to find my journey of self-development on the Quirky Chats series.

Why I decided to start this series? Well, I created this blog for providing information and spreading awareness about the mental and emotional health, and I mainly intent to write informative articles. But it's not a company or organizations. It's a blog. And what makes a blog, blog is the personal, individual essence to it.

A blog, short-form of weblog, used to be like an online journal. However, now it's used not just for sharing what's going on in your life, but to share even more complex information. And I want to put up something that would help everyone reaching here connect with me a little bit on a personal level.

I want you, the readers, to know me as a person as well.

No, it is not totally going to be about my life. I believe personal life should be kept safe, undisturbed. However, I do believe in sharing the life lessons, and stories. So, you can expect that.

So, let's just start with the chat of this month and dive into the things that I plan to do this year more.

Okay I know, half of the year is already gone. But it's better late than never.

1. Write More:

I created this blog 2 years ago, actually. And if you see the archive, I haven't done much writing on this blog. The main reason for that was that I was busy with my college stuff.

I graduated recently, and now that I can afford to spend more time on writing, I'm going to do exactly that. Write more, preferably science-backed posts. Any science nerds out there?

I will do my best to improve the quality of my posts, and be regular on the postings, something I've struggled with a lot in the past.

I have aimed to publish a certain amount of posts this year, combining all of the platforms where I write, including this blog, and I'm pretty serious this time to reach that goal. I am not going to reveal now how many posts I have decided to write this year, but I will be writing an honest post at the end of this year, discussing how many goals I set and achieved this year.

So, hopefully, it will be a success.

2. Read More:

This is my another major goal for this year. I believe reading helps you grow. It does. It has helped me in the past, and I'm sure it will help me grow even more.

Like you know, I set these goal this month itself (may 2018). That's why I'm about to finish only my first book. It was kind of a re-read, because it's a book that inspires me every time I read it, and since I was a little bit stressed this month, I decided to go back to reading that again.

To document what I read, I'm going to be starting another series, just so that I will stay motivated. My next post is probably going to be the first post in that series, and I will discuss about it in detail in that first post itself.

PS: If you have any book recommendations, don't forget to share it with me.

3. Give The Blog More Professional Touch:

I'm planning on buying my own domain, and give my blog a more professional feel to it.

I have to do a lot of work on my blog. Seriously. I have to write a lot of pages, starting from the about page, and work on the blog arrangements as well. And also, I need to figure out if I need to set a schedule.

I think setting up a schedule would be beneficial, and will give me that proper push to publish more frequently. For example, Quirky Chats would be a monthly post, rather than weekly, and I will be posting Quirky Chats towards the end of every month.

That is decided, but the specific day for my regular posts is not decided yet.

I am aiming to post one post per week. I don't want to make blogging a burden to me, since I am the only one writing here, and I want to take enough time to research and write peaceful, so that both you and me can get the best out of each post. I am aiming not to compromise on quality, which I will try my best to bring to higher level.

I will also be working to make my graphics more attractive and informative. I create the graphics myself, and I'm doing okay, but I want to do great.

4. Work On My Health:

So, I've been trying to adapt a more healthy lifestyle since last year (2017), and so far my journey has had a lots of ups and downs.

I did really great some times, and other times I totally failed at my plans.

Diet wise, I'm doing fine. I believe in healthy eating, I'm doing good in making sure I eat healthy.

But it's the workout part that I need to focus more on. I used to go for zumba classes when I was in college, and that did really great in keeping me in shape. I totally enjoyed dancing!

Unfortunately, the gym in my new city doesn't offer zumba classes. And so I need to find an alternative.

I already have planned about my workout; about what I will be doing and for how long. And I've already started doing it, but I need to make sure that I stick to it. That's where most people fail, and that's where I've failed in the past.

Working out is really important to me because it really helps me with all the stress, and it really makes me feel very positive, and that provides a real good boost in terms of productivity.

5. Work On My Goals:

Is it funny that I have a goal to work on my goals? Lol. Maybe, but it's important to me because just making goals have never worked out for me and I need to put efforts to stick to them.

This blog is also my effort to work on my goals.

The above 4 points are some habits that I'm trying to incorporate in my life. But I have other personal goals as well; goals about my education, my career, and other things in life. And I will be working on that as well.

I have kind of started bullet journaling, and I write the things that I need to do there, make plans, track my habits, write down what's going on in my mind etc, to try my best to make the best out of the day, and to write down the successes, so that I can go back and look at them, and stay motivated to do more work. Also, to go back and see where I'm failing, and what are the things that working out and not working out for me.

I might write about it later on, giving a review how bullet journaling is turning out for me. I started it just this month, so I will have to see how it goes.

The whole idea behind journaling is basically to keep a track, and make sure that I'm making some effort everyday.

One more important thing I need to do more often is to manage my frustration. I've been stressed a lot this month and I don't like that. So I will be focusing on my regular routine/tricks that helps me deal with my frustration.

Okay, so, this is all of the goals that I can think of right now. Simple goals, but essential goals.

If I make more plans I will be sharing that on my next Quirky Chats post.

Like I said, the basic idea behind this series is to connect with each other at a more personal level, and so that you can relate to me more. I'm just a human, with all the imperfections. And although I'm not aiming to be perfect, I am, however, aiming to improve.

What are your goals for this year? Let me know in the comments, or you can write to me on the "contact" section on the right. Also, you can chat with me twitter and facebook.

Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.
